Cortes Health Centre

The Cortes Community Health Association was established in the early 1990s to secure stable medical care for an island whose healthcare history dates back to boat-based missions in 1905. The organization’s mission is to operate a community-led facility that provides a supportive atmosphere while remaining durable and self-sufficient for generations. Drawing on over a century of local medical history, the clinic is unique for its community-funded construction using local island wood and its status as one of the first rural clinics to implement a collaborative group physician practice.
